Fraga da Pena and Serra do Açor

Fraga da Pena is located near the village of Pardieiros, which is in Arganil, in the district of Coimbra. This waterfall is a waterfall resulting from a geological accident and is considered one of the most valuable natural resources in Serra do Açor.

As it is not a very large country, access to the Fraga da Pena waterfall can be done by car from any major city in Portugal. The distance and travel time vary according to the proximity to Serra do Açor.

How to get to the Fraga da Pena waterfall?

The best way to get there is with a vehicle, whether your own or rented. Starting from the city of Coimbra, the trip would take just over an hour to cover the almost 80 km distance. To do this, we recommend following the route to the cascade via IP3 and IC6. Departing from other cities such as Porto or Lisbon, the trip would take between 2h and 3h depending on the route selected.

The Fraga da Pena waterfall is located in Serra do Açor, therefore, in the region there are several activities to enjoy and several other places of interest to visit. Within a 10 km radius of Fraga da Pena, there are more than 20 inviting restaurants to enjoy good food.

  • Pedra da Ferida Cascade: Just 300 meters from the Fraga da Pena waterfall, this other waterfall is also a great choice for waterfall lovers.
  • Penela Castle: One of the most famous tourist attractions in the city of Penela. The castle is only 5.6 km from the waterfall and is an attraction that you cannot miss if you are nearby!
  • Senhora de Piedade river beach: A river beach located 10 km from Fraga da Pena. A great place to spend the afternoon.
  • Aldeia do Talasnal: Just 11.4 km away, it is an incredible trip to get to know a little about this village located in Lousã.
