Odeceixe Beach

Odeceixe beach is located at the mouth of Ribeira de Seixe. This beach allows tourists to choose between bathing in the sea or river, in addition to having small lagoons during low tide.

How to get to Odeceixe Beach?

To get to Odeceixe beach from the town center, of course, access is very easy. This makes this beach one of the best known in the region.

From other regions of Portugal, it is possible to make this trip in 3 ways, with your own/rented vehicle, by bus or by train.

If the chosen option is the train, you will need to get off at the Santa Clara Saboia terminal. However, from there you need to use a taxi (or Uber) service for approximately 45 minutes.

When using the bus, there is the option of getting off in Odeceixe, which is faster and more practical. We recommend this option to go to Odeceixe beach.

What to do at Odeceixe Beach?

On the Odeceixe beach and its surroundings there are many activity options and attractions. Here’s a list of some things you can’t miss at Odeceixe beach:

  • Surfing: If you like surfing or want to learn, this is the ideal place. There are surf schools that offer family, individual and group lessons, with classes that last half a day or even packages with several weekly lessons. Prices vary depending on the time of year and number of classes. Some surf schools have their own bar on the beach, with a variety of services, such as chair and umbrella rental, canoe and kayak rental and massage services. Plus, of course, surfing lessons!
  • Vila de Odeceixe: Also known as “Village between the sea and the mountains”, this village is the first urban complex in the Algarve. From the village you can see both the sea and the mountains, which makes the place an unmissable visit for anyone on Odeceixe beach.
  • Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina Natural Park: This natural park is located in São Teotônio, 2km from Odeceixe beach. With an extension of 110km, you can find many types of natural and semi-natural landscapes and habitats. It’s close to Odeceixe Beach and is definitely worth checking out!

Furthermore, in the cidade Aljezur, where Odeceixe beach is located, there are several other beaches and attractions for you to visit. We have separated some examples:

  • Amoreira beach: This beach is 11km from Odeceixe beach and is a great place to swim, enjoy the sun and relax.
  • Beach Horseback Riding: For those who like to ride horses or want to do so, this is the perfect place for that. There are companies that offer a mega horseback ride along paths overlooking the beach! There are several tour options and consequently different prices! It’s worth noting that you don’t need to have experience riding, they’ll take care of everything!
  • Aljezur Castle: It is a military monument located in the town of Aljezur with free entry.

  • Bar da Praia Odeceixe: Beach bar, with a very cozy indoor space. They offer International, Mediterranean and, of course, Portuguese cuisine.
  • Altinho – Tapas and Petiscos Bistro: Very famous and very popular bistro, 2.5km from Odeceixe beach.
  • Chaparro Restaurant: One of the main restaurants in Odeceixe serving seafood, Mediterranean food and barbecue. Pretty eclectic, right?
