Serra da Arrábida is a natural park, with beautiful and diverse landscapes on the outskirts of Setúbal, close to the capital Lisbon.

It has a protected area that has paradisiacal beaches at the foot of the mountains. The Arrábida Natural Park is formed by a large expanse close to the sea on the north bank of the Sado River estuary.

Speleology in the Serra da Arrábida

Several companies offer speleology activities in Serra da Arrábida. It usually lasts 4 hours and can be done in groups of up to 12 people. The minimum age group to be able to practice is from 12 years old.

The cost of the experience is around €30. It has the participation of accredited professionals, insurance and equipment.

Information about speleology activities in Serra da Arrábida

To carry out the activity, it is recommended to wear hiking boots or similar, closed and covered, and clothing that promotes freedom of movement.

It is recommended, but not mandatory, to bring an extra piece of clothing to the end of the activity. It is worth mentioning that it is not an activity recommended for people with claustrophobia.

Activity times vary depending on the operator providing the services. Activities normally start at 9am in the morning or 2pm in the afternoon.
